Series has just gotten a release date for 2022. Following Addison and Zed’s adventure through Seabrook high, the Zombies franchise is nearly as popular as Descendants among similar age groups. Naturally, the Zombies 3 release date has been a topic hotter than Seabrook’s prom.

It looks like Addison (Meg Donnelly) and Zed (Milo Manheim) ought to roll out the welcome carpet for the new visitors. Zombies 3 officially debuts on Disney+ on July 15, 2022, but fans will have to be patient for an additional “Special edition” of the film PLUS a new music track that will drop on August 12, 2022, exclusively on the Disney Channel.

The threequel will bring back Meg Donnelly and Milo Manheim as Seabrook's star-crossed zombie/cheerleader couple Zed and Addison. Behind the scenes, director Paul Hoen and writers David Light and Joseph Raso have also returned for the final movie.

As the cheerleaders, zombies and werewolves of Seabrook have to band together to face a threat of galactic proportions that could change them forever.

The threequel will then make its Disney Channel debut in the US on Friday, August 12 at 8pm ET/PT with a special encore premiere, featuring a brand new "lost song" musical number and additional bonus footage.

The July release date is a change from the previous two movies, which both premiered around Valentine's Day in February 2018 and February 2020, respectively, on the Disney Channel.

However, this being a Disney movie, it all worked out in the end after Zed apologised and realised he was being a bit of a dick towards the werewolves. Teaming up with the werewolves, the zombies gatecrash the Prawn and Zed apologises to Addison.

"I thought everything would make sense if I was a werewolf, but I'm not and I don't even know if I'm a cheerleader, " Addison tells Zed, who replies: "You're a leader, Addison. You bring people together."

Though as later that night a mysterious meteorite crashes in Seabrook, causing Addison's radio to turn on and wake her up. "Weird, " she says as her hair starts glowing bright blue...

Hang on, could Addison actually be an alien? The official synopsis for the third movie confirms that there's an alien twist in store as Zed and Addison begin their final year at Seabrook High.

"Zed is anticipating an athletic scholarship that will make him the first Zombie to attend college, while Addison is gearing up for Seabrook's first international cheer-off competition, " it reads.

It's been confirmed that the third movie will feature eight new musical numbers, including opening track 'Alien Invasion', new songs for Zed and Addison (including a third rendition of 'Someday') and 'Come On Out'.

What Time Will 'zombies 3' Be On Disney+?

Recording the new version of 'Someday' proved to be "so emotional" for Donnelly. "The original 'Someday' I sound so young because I was 16, " she told People.

"So I have almost a time capsule of how we progress through each year. I filmed my part on the last day of filming so I was crying all day."
